We got the VECTOR log scanner for repair. It was just about 20 years old. It was spectacular batch: titanium case, scanner was light but firm. In the 90’s in Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk it was easier to find the titanium sheet than the aluminum one.
At those time local microcircuits, processors made by Zilog (the American company which produced these popular processors was closed in 2007) were widely used. The UV erasable memory microcircuits were still manufactured about 7 years after it. Locally produced gold covered connectors with military acceptances were in perfect condition.
Such service life for an electronic device which was used outdoor and under extremely vibration exceeds the predicted one in 1.5 times. By the way, some scanners of this model family are still in service.
