Sawmill reconstruction was done at the Lithuanian company Stora Enso in Alyutus (Stora Enso Wood Products, Alytus Sawmill). Specialists of AVTOMATIKA-VEKTOR set master controller Simatic S7 with distributed periphery (instead of the old Simatic S5). Data communication with scanner and computer visualization is realised via Ethernet-interface. Log measurement at the sawmill entrance and signal to turn are done by log scanner VECTOR ScanMeg.
In front of the first row machine AriVislanda there is a scanner VECTOR-3D measuring the timber shape and sweep, it generates a signal for additional log turn for the optimum cutting angle. To copy the log sweep in front of the second angle cutters there is CURVE SAWING DEVICE produced by AriVislanda. Control system processes the data from the VECTOR-3D scanner and generates a signal based on the height of half-timber and depth of camber. Sawmill reconstruction also affected the multiple saw, line was equipped with EUROSAW-P circular saw with CANT FEEDER TYPE632 log feeder produced by Soderhamn Eriksson, automatics and algorithms were developed by AVTOMATIKA-VEKTOR.
Edge-trimmer is equipped with bark scanner, hardware is Sick Ruler, software (Optimizer) is developed by AVTOMATIKA-VEKTOR. The system processes the information on board’s surface and forms task to saw positioning and to get the maximum lumber volume or cost.
The SawLine visualization and setting program which is installed on operator’s personal computer is realized in three languages (English, Lithuanian, Russian). It is intended for the calibration of saw equipment, transition to saw-cut of another sawing schedule, change the line’s speed, it also displays abnormal situations and the current position of the saw tool. Raw material accounting is realized according to the table of volumes used in Lithuania.
